About the Training

This is a practical, in-person training day focused entirely on the repairs you’ll actually encounter on real jobs. You’ll learn how to carry out:

  • Carpet patch repairs — achieving invisible results
  • Burn and heat damage repairs
  • Pet damage repairs — scratching, fraying, and pulling
  • Doorway and threshold repairs
  • Seam repairs and rejoins
  • Re-stretching and ripple removal
  • How to price repairs for profit
  • How to sell repairs confidently to existing customers

You’ll also cover tools, materials, and exactly where to source everything cost-effectively.

No previous experience is required. The course is designed for complete beginners as well as those with some experience who want to improve their technique and learn a more professional approach.

As long as you’re motivated and willing to get hands-on, you’ll leave with everything you need to start taking paid repair jobs.

The course is a full day of hands-on, in-person training. Courses typically run from 9:00am to approximately 5:00pm. Full details including start time and venue address are confirmed upon booking.

Training is delivered by Russell and the team at Pristine Carpets — an active carpet cleaning and repair business based in Bedfordshire, where repairs make up a significant part of day-to-day work.

This is not a classroom-only training provider. Everything taught on the course is used on genuine customer jobs every single week. You’ll learn what actually works in the real world, not just theory.

Places are deliberately limited on each course date to ensure every attendee gets personal attention and plenty of time on the tools. This is hands-on training, not a lecture — you’ll be practising techniques yourself throughout the day.

You’ll leave knowing how to carry out all of the core repair types, how to assess a job before committing, what tools to buy, how to price repairs for profit, and how to introduce the service to your existing customers.

Most trainees are ready to take on paid repair work immediately after completing the course.

Course Fees & How to Book

The course fee is £399 — all inclusive. There are no hidden extras. This covers:

  • Full day in-person practical tuition
  • All materials used during the course
  • Step-by-step demonstrations
  • Real-world repair techniques
  • Ongoing support after training

In most cases, one or two repair jobs will cover the full cost of the course.

Contact us via the enquiry form on the contact page or call/text us directly on 07850 963117. We’ll confirm available dates at your preferred location and get your place secured.

We run regular course dates throughout the year at both our Bedfordshire and South Wales locations. Contact us to find out the next available date at your preferred venue.

Because places are limited, we recommend enquiring as early as possible to avoid missing your preferred date.

Please contact us directly to discuss cancellation or rescheduling. We’ll always do our best to accommodate changes where possible and move you to a future course date.

Typical customer prices for carpet repairs range from £80 to £250+ per job, with most repairs taking 30 to 60 minutes to complete. That means the course fee can be recovered in one or two jobs — and after that, every repair job is additional profit added to your business.

Add to that the low equipment costs (around £180 to get fully set up) and the fact that you can begin selling to your existing customers immediately, and the return on investment is very strong.

Training Venues

We currently run courses at two UK locations:

  • Bedford, Bedfordshire — accessible from London, the Midlands, and the East of England
  • Bridgend, South Wales — on the M4 corridor between Cardiff and Swansea

Both venues provide a professional, relaxed environment with hands-on practice and real repair scenarios.

Full joining instructions including the exact venue address and parking details are sent to you upon booking. This helps us maintain small group sizes and manage course capacity.

Yes — free parking is available at both training venues. Full details are included in your joining instructions sent upon booking.

Bedford: Bedford train station is on the Midland Main Line with direct services from London St Pancras (approximately 40 minutes) and connections from Leicester and Nottingham. The venue is a short drive or taxi from the station.

Bridgend: Bridgend train station has regular services from Cardiff Central (approximately 25 minutes) and Swansea (approximately 35 minutes). The venue is a short drive or taxi from the station.

Yes — we plan to expand to additional UK locations. Sign up to our mailing list or follow us on social media to be the first to hear about new venues and dates as they’re announced.

What You’ll Need

Most repairs require simple hand tools, basic consumables, and some donor carpet. A basic carpet repair toolkit typically includes a carpet knife, knee kicker, seam iron, seaming tape, and carpet adhesive.

During training, we go through exactly what to buy, what to avoid, and where to source everything cost-effectively. You do not need expensive machinery or specialist equipment to get started.

Most trainees get fully equipped for around £180 for a basic starter toolkit. That means one or two repair jobs covers the full cost of both the course and your equipment.

No. This is one of the biggest advantages of carpet repair over carpet cleaning. You do not need a large vehicle, expensive mounted equipment, or a significant investment in machinery. A standard car is sufficient to carry your toolkit to and from jobs.

No — all tools, materials, and equipment used during the course are provided as part of the £399 course fee. Just bring yourself and wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting on your knees in.

In most cases, the best donor carpet comes from the customer themselves — many homeowners have leftover rolls tucked away from when the carpet was originally laid. Always ask on arrival.

We also cover alternative sourcing methods during training, including hidden areas of the existing carpet that can be used as donor material without being visible.

Adding Carpet Repair to Your Services

Yes — carpet cleaners are one of the most natural fits for this course. You already have an existing customer base who trust you, you’re already visiting properties with carpets, and you’re perfectly placed to spot repair opportunities on every single job.

Adding repair to your cleaning business is one of the fastest ways to increase revenue per job without finding new customers or investing in additional equipment.

Most trainees are in a position to take on paid repair work immediately after completing the course. You’ll leave with the skills, the tool knowledge, and the confidence to quote and carry out jobs straight away.

The fastest route to your first paid job is your existing customer base — a simple message to your current customers letting them know you now offer repairs will typically generate enquiries within days.

The highest-demand customers for carpet repair are:

  • Homeowners with pet damage, burns, or worn doorway areas
  • Landlords needing repairs between tenancies
  • Letting agents managing multiple properties
  • Property maintenance companies
  • Estate agents preparing properties for sale

Landlords and letting agents in particular can become a reliable source of repeat work — they need repairs regularly and value having a trusted professional they can call on.

Typical customer prices in the UK range from £80 to £250+ per repair job, with most repairs taking between 30 and 60 minutes to complete. Pricing depends on the type of repair, the size of the area, and your location.

During training, we cover exactly how to price jobs to ensure strong profit margins on every repair you take on.

Yes — ongoing support after training is included as part of the course fee. If you encounter a job you’re unsure about or have questions after you’ve started taking on repairs, you can get in touch with us for advice.
